03 Mar 2011 - Port Melbourne dud session

Location : Port Melbourne Kite : 10m Switchblade IDS Conditions : 13 knots southerly Forecast looked up and down - and true to form - it was rubbish.  Got a couple of small runs in but nothing much to report.

18 Feb 2011 Stormfront at Altona

Location : Altona Kite : 10m Switchblade IDS Conditions : 18 knots easterly Got the three amigos together (Tarren, Pete and I) for an afterwork trip to Altona - the first kiting session for a couple of weeks.  It was a bit of a race to ensure that wind was still up and the rain had not yet hit.  Luckily we were able to hit the beach at about 5 with plenty of kiters out.  I was very excited to get out again - it felt like it had been a very long time coming.  I am still quite sick with bronchitis, but just had to do some kiting. So, coughing and spluttering I set up.  Wind appeared quite light, but on the water it was perfect, enough to cruise and do some small jumps, which in my condition was about all I could handle.  Spent a lot of time coughing and finally managed to clear my lungs and started to feel good for the first time in 24 hours.  Being on the sea certainly helps.   After some fun runs, looked up to see a massive spiralling stor...

06 Feb 2011 Aspendale - end of the rain

Location : Aspendale Kite : 10m Switchblade IDS Conditions : 18-24 knots southerly First time out after some big rain.  I went south to Aspendale expecting the water to be blue and the beach clear - unfortunately it looked like the Yarra river - heaps of debris on the beach, including a plastic street barricade (the kind you fill with water).  The water was brown.  I forgot that a lot of flooding occurred in the se suburbs, the Patterson river was apparently awful. The wind was good most of the time, it would drop off every now and again to around 10 then come barrelling back.  Very choppy.  No real progression today, I'm still pretty sick with a hell of a cough.  Great to get out and active though.

01 Feb 2011 St Kilda - big front

Location : St Kilda Kite : 10m Switchblade IDS Conditions : 18-20 knots southerly Managed to land my infamous backroll to faceplant trick.  Still can't land the backroll to toeside.  Worked on my weaker side rotations, pretty confident now doing most but have not managed a 720 on my weaker side yet.  No progression today, but lots of fun !

27 Jan 2011 St Kilda - marginal day

Location : St Kilda Kite : 10m Switchblade IDS Conditions : 14-16 knots southerly Forecast was great, but it just didn't come through.  Lots of light wind kiteloops, no progression.

24 Jan 2011 Hampton - Teaching

Location : Hampton Kite : 7m Crossbow IDS Conditions : 18 knots southerly  Simon's fourth session on the 7m - got up on the board and went about 10m.  I think he was a little suprised and didn't know what to do - so consequently went over the rails!

24 Jan 2011 Hampton

Location : Hampton Kite : 10m Switchblade IDS Conditions : 18 knots southerly A little gusty and inconsistent with a fair bit of chop.  Did a couple of regular tricks - backroll, forward 360, backroll transition but no real progression.  Arms felt very tired.
