2024 10 27 - Hampton Seabreeze

 Season has kicked off in style with a Sunday evening sea breeze session.  Got out on both the nugget and the twin tip.  Saw Natalie, Rich, Steve - same crew as always.  Took a beating at times but that is all part of the fun.

Big shore break, average wind and a different kiting culture are what greeted me at narrabean. Iwas itching to get out for a sail, the forecast was great but it was a bit of a challenge to find the right wind info in a new location.  Surf it is apparently the go. When I arrived the were kiters out, most were struggling to hold a line. I immediately noticed the big shore break, a new challenge! setup and headed out, charged through the big shore break and avoided playing in that area for most of the rest of the session,  the place where kites go to die!  Went out a long way to get the best of the wind, stunning vistas of the Sydney shoreline. Didn't try anything crazy, still recovering from my cough and I was keeping am eye on the surf. Definitely adifferent vibe on the beach to Melbourne.  Maybe a carry over from the surfing culture.  When I arrived, one guy crashed his kite in the surf impact zone, no one was helping so I grabbed his kite before it was pulv...

2016 10 30 - Hurricane at Point Lonsdale

The day had been absolutely perfect - an early morning kite, a magnificent day at Bremlea beach with the family, boogie boarding, suping, having a great time with the kids.  The wind was forecast to come in for the afternoon - so the stars were aligned.  What could possibly go wrong ?  A freakin hurricane could, that's what. With the ladies and kids headed to the Queenscliff market, Pete and I had the afternoon to ourselves, with a 25-30 knot breeze on the go.  We checked a couple of locations at Ocean Grove, before making the call to head to Point Lonsdale surf club.  I'd walked past it with Darren a couple of months before, beautiful water and some nice breaks - I thought it would be perfect for us. 2016 04 10 - Sunrise over Franga

Ripping forecast for morning wind so Tarren and I met up at Aspendale, thinking it would be ripping the roof off.  Turns out it was a perfect morning there for a sup.  It seemed some wind was getting in at Frankston so we tore down there and it was definitely on.  It turned out to have something for everyone, we had wind ranging from 16 knots to about 28 knots, sunshine, rain and a ripping great time on the water.  The first 30 mins was good consistent wind for trying all sorts of stuff, I discovered that I could get massively upwind by gliding just 1 metre from the sand - had great fun carving up then going for big air on the way back.  Then the wind picked up and we were going huge - excellent fun.  Managed an entire board off and 2 rotations for an epic stack.  Love the track log on this one.
